Winter Solstice with Solstice
3:00 PM
The Church of the Epiphany 1839 Arroyo AvenueSan Carlos CA
For the first time in our 13-year history, Solstice will be performing on the Solstice! The concert will be a mixture of songs old and new, celebrating the season in many styles and languages. Come join us to relax and recharge on Sunday, December 21 at 3:00 pm, at The Church of the Epiphany.
And, we can make your holiday shopping EASY by suggesting Solstice’s newest CD, Rise. From Bartok to Björk, from Palestrina to Paul Simon, this CD has a mixture of styles that will delight and surprise your recipients.
I’m unable to upload a sample song, but if you want to listen, try here. A few of my favorites are Hotaru Koi, Ergen Deda and Java Dive.
(Our friend Krista is the one in the middle.)

I couldn’t help but smile at the scene which greeted me this morning. It all started as a simple Saturday of hanging out, and ended in an orgy of pizza, orange soda and all-night gaming. Ah, to be young!! I woke up briefly several times during the night to the sounds of low, rumbling laughter mixed with high-pitched giggles and chairs rolling over the hardwood floor. There was still movement going on when I woke up and got in the shower at 5:30. (Yes, that is my usual getting-up time. I work best fresh when the house is quiet.)
By the time I got upstairs though, everyone was crashed out, sprawled in various places throughout the living-dining-family rooms, having grabbed whatever blankets and sleeping bags they could muster. The dining room table was covered with the electronic remnants of their battles and adventures. All is deceptively calm and quiet, providing only clues to the fun which kept them going through the night into morning.
Remember anything similar from your high-school-college years?
I am still having a great time in life, I just do it at more civilized hours these days.
I wonder what they will all accomplish when they finally turn all that energy toward something productive.
When they finally do, I hope they don’t forget to play.
Here’s a peek at what I found.

The Game Table

Sweet dreams boys.

Whatever that means! It guess it is like playing tag, and since I’ve been tagged that makes me IT. Only the game I’ve been tagged in is a bit different. I was tagged by 3 Ring Binder.
Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write 6 random things about yourself.
4. Tag 6-ish people at the end of your post.
5. Let each person know he/she has been tagged.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.
Now for the 6 random things about myself:
1. I am currently an econ junkie.
2. When I was growing up. I was incredibly envious of the liberties given to boys that I didn’t seem to be allowed to participate in. I spent so much effort trying to break those barriers, that it wasn’t until in my thirties that I got around to enjoying to my femininity. When I finally did, I started out by buying all my climbing gear in hot pink.
3. My husband hates my chickens because he gets poo stuck in his shoes when he walks around in our back yard. I don’t mind –partly because the soles of my shoes are flat, and mostly because I love those ridiculously silly, beautiful birdbrains.
4. There are only a few things in life that I enjoy more than a really good, really long, foot massage.
5. Raising children is one of the most challenging, rewarding, wonderfully aggravating, time-consuming, soul-stretching, heart-wrenching, personal-growth journeys I have ever attempted. And I wouldn’t trade away a second of it.
6. My high school boyfriend and I used to write each other notes using Tolkien’s Runes.
So who to tag? For now, I’ll tag Lisa and Sue. I will have to come up with some others later.
Off to notify, and that’s it!
