Today is my mom’s birthday.
She died 4 and 1/2 years ago–but lives on in the hearts of many.
Born March 25,1928 just 83 years ago. In E. St.Louis, Ill.
Loved the outdoors,Director of the Ohio Alliance for the Environment. Devoted to Raising 5 daughters. Loved Tennis, Biking and Cross Country Skiing. In 8th Grade wrote the Signal Hill Class pledge: LAUNCHED,BUT NOT ANCHORED. Our ship was first launched when we entered kinder-garten and ever since we have been sailing on our first journey through the sea of education. Each year we have learned new things and faced new difficulties. Now as we end our first voyage we could, as people did long ago, drop our anchor and say, “We know all there is to be known and there is no use continuing through school.” But not so are we.
We shall sail onward, onward learning things, some of us stopping with high school education and others continuing on through college or university. But, even then we shall not drop anchor. We shall sail on and on through the sea of life, ever launching our ship and learning new things and not until our ship sails through the Golden Gates of Heaven shall we drop our anchor.
