Goin’ to a Tea Party April 12, 2009

On Wednesday, I am heading off to a Tea Party! Apropos April 15, it’s in front of an IRS building. I am trying to decide on a sign slogan. I’d like something which encapsulates a sense of outrage at the recent excesses of spending and abuse of political power. Here’s a few ideas which come close, but I am not totally satisfied with:

Big Government–Big Spending –Big Mistake
(doesn’t seem specific enough, but my favorite so far)

Free People need Free Banks
(no outrage)

Separation of Market and State.
(too nerdy)

Any suggestions?

Wow, I’m amazed that when some Americans have a quibble about the politics of spending they start a tax revolt. Our GLBT families AND children are SUB-American in Federal Law; we suffer NEEDLESSLY in times of crisis, disease, and death due to our legal exclusion from FAMILY LAW.

I’m afraid YOU will have to pay OUR taxes from now on, until WE are equal. [National Equality Tax Revolt 2009]

Equality before the law is definitely part of the problem–I hope that those who protesting the current bloated special-interest spending will be able to see that. But—equality per se is not the issue as much as the protection of individual rights. I have no interest in being equally enslaved, or equally robbed.

Taken from another Tea Party sign: Liberty- all the stimulus we need!

Noam’s idea:
Bill of rights- read it!

or: Bill or rights- did you read it?

So far I’m liking “Liberty –all the stimulus we need.” Thanks for the suggestions.
