How could I have missed this!
March 4th was National Grammar Day. I am so devastated that I missed it, that I am going to have my own personal 3-day late Personal Grammar Day.
To celebrate, I am going to try and understand affect and effect –which I constantly screw up. Proper grammar affects how I am perceived, and I would prefer the effect be positive. Most of the time, my attempts to effect an an improvement in my usage are ineffective. Is it any wonder that the effect has been to give me an affective disorder?
(Did I get it right?)

The Tea Party movement has been called “astroturf” by its enemies in attempts to belie its genuine grassroots origin. Proponents of Big Government are threatened by us little guys rallying across the country in droves, protesting government intrusions into out private lives–especially since Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts.
According to BigGovernment.com, former-Presidnet Clinton and James Carville, a political commentator and Clinton’s presidential campaign strategist, plan
“to identify 7-8 national figures active in the tea party movement and engage in deep opposition research on them. If possible, they will identify one or two they can perhaps ‘turn’, either with money or threats, to create a mole in the movement. The others will be subjected to a full-on smear campaign.”
Wish them luck. I wonder who they will find?
In the spirit of Sparticus, the Tea Party Patriots have decided to help Clinton and Carville in their search.
Tea, any one? One lump or two?

Happy Valentines Day! February 14, 2010

This day has some special meaning for me.
35 years ago today, Jon and I shared our very first kiss.
In remembrance of all those years, I thought I would go through our old photos and and put together a collage. I was shocked by how few pictures there are with just the two of us. So many with friends, or family (especially with the kids)or just one of us. Here’s a few of my favorite old-but-goodies.
Center: 2009 in Yosemite
Starting in the upper left hand corner, then going left to right:
1. Sometime in the late 1970’s
2. Signing our wedding vows 1981
3. “The Fish and the Lobotomy Patient” (a wedding photo classic)
4. The “Roachanoke” apartment -Cincinnati
5. Our first home Madison Wisconsin
6. Medical school graduation 1983
7. Recouping from a climbing accident 1986
8. Our Christmas card photo 1986
9. Visiting my folks
10. “Robospouses”
11. At Jon’s folks house in Ann Arbor
12. Joshua Tree National Monument 1990
Here’s another of my favorites which I realized too late that I forgot to include:
Hope you have the sweetest day with your sweetest!

I know you have heard this song a million times, but hang in there and listen and watch all the way through. This young man is adorable, and his performance awesome.
I can’t decide which I want to do most, hug him for his sweet and endearing demeanor, or bow in reverence to his talent.
(OK. So I want to do both!)
